French left-back Jordan Amavi has been loaned for a season by Olympique de Marseille to Getafe, the Spanish club announced in a statement Thursday.
“Our site is heading to Spain for a loan from Getafe”confirmed OM on Twitter. The 28-year-old Toulonnais was not in the plans of Olympic coach Igor Tudor and did not play a single official minute this season. He has been playing in Marseilles since 2018, for which he scored three goals and scored eleven assists in 127 matches played.
Amavi was on loan for the second part of last season to his training club OGC Nice, while Jorge Sampaoli, Tudor’s predecessor at Marseille, did not count on him either. Except for a few successful months after arriving in 2017 which earned him a call-up to the France team but without playing, and then again in the 2019-2020 season with André Villas-Boas, Amavi never really imposed on OM. The left-back will try to recover at the club from the Madrid suburbs, which started the championship with two losses against Atlético Madrid (3-0) and Girona (3-1) and a draw against Villarreal (0-0).
