Qualcomm, new Snapdragon 6 and 4 Gen 1 chips for mid-range smartphones

-

Qualcomm Technologies has announced two new mobile-based chipsets: Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, designed for the mid-to-low-end segment. In detail, Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 integrates a triple internet service provider that allows you to quickly capture bright images from three cameras simultaneously. In addition, users can take photos up to 108MP and record video with computed HDR thanks to the support of shifted HDR image sensors. The Snapdragon 6 is equipped with the 7th generation Qualcomm AI Engine, which enables up to three times the AI performance of its predecessor, providing intelligent assistance in all areas, including AI-based activity tracking. With gaming features that provide up to 35% faster graphics rendering and up to 40% faster processing, Snapdragon 6 lets you play HDR at over 60fps. Thanks to the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF system, this platform enables extended global connectivity supporting 5G 3GPP Release 16 and 5G peak download speed of 2.9 Gbps, while Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 offers 2×2 6E Wi-Fi, another novelty in the Snapdragon series 6.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is the first 6nm platform in the 4 series. The company says the processor has been improved by up to 15% and the GPU has been improved by up to 10% over the previous generation, allowing users to multitask smoothly. Thanks to camera technology, Snapdragon 4 includes triple ISP and Multi-Frame Noise Reduction. Users can also take photos up to 108MP. The Qualcomm AI engine is also supported by this SoC, which also uses the Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF system to achieve a 5G peak download speed of 2.5Gbps and FastConnect 6200 for 2×2 Wi-Fi and excellent Bluetooth. Motorola and iQOO have already said they are working on devices that support chipsets. “At Motorola, we strive to bring smarter technology to our customers, and we are proud to have Qualcomm Technologies on our side on this journey,” said Francois La Flamme, head of strategy and marketing director at Motorola. “As a company in the future, we will continue to find the perfect balance between performance and affordability with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 mobile platform.” The commercial availability of Snapdragon 6 Gen 1-based devices is planned for the first quarter of 2023, and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1-based devices are expected to be available in the third quarter of 2022.
